Thyroid Hormone Imbalance
A great number of women suffer from hypothyroidism. It is caused by a sluggish or under-active thyroid which is not able to produce enough of thyroxine. Some of the symptoms are fatigue, depression, muscle cramps, goitre, excessive sweating, weight gain, constipation, abnormal menstrual cycles, and others.

Hypothyroidism
Different methods exist which are used to treat this condition. Most doctors prescribe the use of a synthetic hormone such as levothryroxine. However, if the patient has trouble converting this hormone into its appropriate form in the body, then it is supplemented with another kind of hormone. The disease can also be treated with a dessicated thyroid extract, usually taken from pigs.
